Immigration Day (No. 4)

We woke up early again at 6:00 AM, while Drill Sergeant Jayden was out and about knocking on the doors. We were supposed to eat at 7:00 AM, but the food wasn’t ready until 7:30. After our late breakfast we went to the immigration center. There we learned about the struggles faced by Haitian immigrants in the DR. This organization was created to help immigrants get jobs and gave immigrants a place to stay. After leaving the immigration center, we went to see the sugarcane fields. We met a man named Domingo who spoke about the difficulties of working with sugarcanes and low wages they receive. When we came back to the ranch, we had lunch at 12:30 PM, and at 2:00 PM we had a program seminar. At the seminar we planned our presentation to the community for our capstone project. Right afterwards, we had a self reflection where we discussed what we learned from talking to the people at the immigration center and sugarcane fields. During our free time afterwards, we played water balloon games and enjoyed the pool during this hot weather. At 7:00 PM, we all sat down to eat dinner and enjoyed each other’s company after a long day of learning and having fun.

Sounds like another good day. A little work in the morning and some fun in the afternoon to cool off from the heat. Hope you enjoy your day today.

For some reason we aren’t getting your call and don’t know why. It’s making me a little worried. Is everything okay?
