Learning to Serve in the DR

Hey everyone, today’s theme on day 4 was Aid & Development. In the morning we started our day off meeting Bernardo, the founder of the non-profit organization known as “Alegria Inocente.” During the meeting we learned about what this organization does throughout the year, for example, they provide school supplies, give out presents on Mother’s Day, and even build homes for those in need. Today after lunch, we visited “Centro Educativo Asia Maria Colon”, and we learned about what we will be designing, and creating as a community.

Our GGL Celeste surprised our group with some ice cream as a treat. After we arrived to our accommodation, we had some free time and spent time bonding with each other and getting to know one another. We also tried different foods to help our digestive system such as prune juice, papaya juice, and yucca which was found in the sancocho. Sancocho is a very traditional dish that is usually served on Sundays. It is a broth with different types of meat and vegetables combined together, which we all enjoyed.
