Local and Global business

Today we started our day with a beautiful breakfast of bacon, eggs, toast, and oatmeal. Then we started our mental warmup with a cute game of human guess who, and a classic favorite of mafia. Then, we lead our trip to a coffee plantation, learning about the history of coffee trade. Then we got to hike up to a beautiful view of the coffee farm and factory. Our outstanding tour guide helped explain to us the brutal life of a coffee bean farmer and the long hours that are required just to make a living and support your family. After our hike back down we got to see a look at the factory where the beans are processed. Ending the tour we had a quick ride to a local restaurant. Luckily we preordered our meals the day before so our food came out piping hot. Next, we took a trip to a cow farm, called Florida. There we learned the different grasses cows eat for all types of health benefits. We played a guessing game between two split groups on what each grass was called. Very educational! Then we took a small hike to the actual dairy farm and two lucky glimpses were able to milk the cows! We then had a cheese-making contest. Soon after we got three different cheeses brought out to us, Turrialba artisan cheese, two-week aged cheese and so much more. We then played a game to see how much we remembered from what we learned. Upon leaving we were rained on, unfortunately. But after a quick bus ride, we were home! We had a beautiful almost-last dinner with each other, and a nice night meeting. We also wrote our letter of appreciation letters to the donors. That’s all goodnight! Signing out Mikaela and Emmitt ❤️.
