This morning, we got up bright and early at 6:30 a.m. Once awake, we headed to Nelson and Isabel for a scrumptious breakfast. Afterward, we rushed to the town of Guano, where we visited the local quinoa cereal business, Cerquie, learned the seven-step process of quinoa cereal production, discussed the details of the business, and got to purchase some “Pop de Quinoa“! Later, we took a bus to the Zapateria Arevalo, a local handmade shoe manufacturer. There we learned how formal, leather dress shoes are constructed by the owner Dora and master shoemaker Vicente. We then headed back to the hotel in Riobamba, ate lunch, self-reflected, and had the chance to further explore the city. Some of the Glimpsers enjoyed delicious crepes, while others went on a run and purchased souvenirs. After entering the discovery phase of our CAP (Community Action Project), we enjoyed ribs, chicken, and rice for dinner. Next, we concluded the evening with our nightly meeting where we reviewed the day and passed the torches onto tomorrow’s Lideres del Dia, Melisa and Grace. We look forward to another full and adventurous day tomorrow.
