We arrived at Turrialba

Today was a great day! Our team woke up super early and had breakfast in the hotel before heading to the bus to have a long ride to base Aracari in Turrialba. Mila gave us bits of information about Costa Rica, la Carretera Interamericana, and the volcanoes and wildlife around the area. We were even able to briefly see a sloth in a tree on our way to the base!

After presenting ourselves to the staff of the base house we had a great lunch of gallo pinto which consist of rice, beans, salad, fried plantains and protein (in this case fish). Later we had a long meeting to set the rules of the house and after that, we went for a quick walk to Santa Rosa, where Mila gave us more information about the town and its history.

We ended the day with a great dinner and our first nightly meeting.

We can’t wait to go to Cartago tomorrow!

We’re absolutely delighted to read about your amazing adventures today! We can almost taste the excitement from your words. Waking up early, the scenic bus ride, and the insightful bits from Mila about Costa Rica, la Carretera Interamericana, volcanoes, and wildlife — it all sounds so wonderfully enchanting. And a sloth! What a thrilling sighting that must’ve been. It’s thrilling to think about all the natural wonders you’re encountering on this journey. We’re sure the gallo pinto was as delicious as it sounds, and what a unique experience to have it at the base house, getting to know the staff and setting up your rules together. Your stroll through Santa Rosa sounds equally captivating. Your days are full and rich, just as we hoped they’d be. Enjoy every moment of this, and as you look forward to Cartago, remember to take in every detail, every experience, and every lesson. We’re sending our love and can’t wait to hear more about your adventures. Rest well and dream big!
