Dear Global Glimpse Parents and Families,

As you may already be aware, two earthquakes measuring 5.9 and 6.4 occurred on the  pacific coastline of Ecuador yesterday on Sunday, July 10. The epicenter of the quakes was located in the Esmeraldas province approximately 195 miles from our program sitess in Riobamba. Our staff reported that they did not feel any shaking in Riobamba and all students, GG Leaders, and staff have been accounted for and all are doing well. Currently, all trips are scheduled to proceed with their planned activities while carefully following all health and safety protocols. Our program itineraries only operate in and around Riobamba and do not take our students near the coast.

We are closely monitoring the situation with our staff on the ground as well as with International SOS (ISOS), our international medical and emergency care provider.  Please be advised that ISOS has performed thousands of evacuations and with care, and has developed the expertise to provide service in remote areas of the world. Additionally, ISOS’ global security network is designed and ready to assist in managing any complex issues of people, information, communications, and transportation during an emergency situation. In the event of an emergency, Global Glimpse is prepared to execute our carefully assessed natural disaster and evacuation protocols in partnership with ISOS to help minimize risk to our participants and staff.  If you have any further questions about the earthquake in Ecuador please contact our Director of International Programs, Jocelyn Juliao, at [email protected].

Thank you,

The Global Glimpse Team
