Hello family and friends!

It definitely has been a long day for the group but we have made it to our home away from home.  Our flights from San Francisco to Managua via San Salvador went smooth and everyone is in high spirits. As we got our luggage and walked out of baggage claim our site manager and program coordinator were waiting for us with a sign.

We made our introductions did an icebreaker and made our trek to the schoolbus where we were en route for a 2 hour bus ride to Estelí. Once we got to the hostel our rooms were assigned and we had our first official Nicaraguan dish “Indio Viejo.” Which consisted of rice and a shredded meat and bean blend and on the side we had plantains.

The Glimpsers thereafter had the first workshop and were able to have to down time as the GGLs, SM & PC had the leadership meeting. That all brought us to dinner, where we had spaghetti with bread.

After dinner we had our second seminar and our nightly meeting. We are all tired and exhausted but are excited that our journey in Estelí has begun.

Stay tuned for our next blog as we begin with History and Politics.

Buenas noches y hasta mañana.

Profe…out!
