Every hundred feet the world changes  – Roberto Bolaño ∇

Hello glimpsers!

We are Camilo [Site Manager] and Angel [Program Coordinator]… Team Constanza here.

Camilo is from Caracas (Venezuela) but he’s been traveling for a couple of years now (Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Haiti, D.R.). Angel, born and raised in Constanza, lived in Idaho for two years and came back home to become an english teacher. We can’t wait until you guys get to Constanza, the heart of the central highlands (which means it won’t be as warm as you might think) and one of the main agricultural areas in the country. We have prepared lots of great things to make sure you have a meaningful and amazing experience, and we’re still fine-tuning many details.

Wonderful people from beautiful communities have been helping us to get everything ready, needless to say they’re all eagerly waiting for you guys. We’ve also been training with our peers from all the other sites in the DR, and one thing we can say for sure: this summer is going to be splendid. We got certified in Wilderness Advanced First Aid but we obviously don’t want to prove ourselves during your time here; nevertheless, it was a very enlightening training involving anatomy and emergency scenarios.

We are looking forward to learning alongside all of you while having a great summer! Make sure you are prepared for a meaningful journey that will show you the Dominican Republic, it’s bright side and it’s challenges. We hope you come ready to open yourself up to a new culture and create lasting connections with the people in Constanza, rest assured that we will help you in every step of the way. Remember to double check your packing list for dress code expectations and other important items (durable closed-toed shoes, bug spray, sunscreen, etc.)

If you want to bring any donations you’re more than welcome (we would love to distribute some school supplies for local kids by the end of the summer but feel free to bring any other items you consider appropriate).

Let us know what you’ve been up to! Tell us a bit about who you are, where you come from. How are you getting ready for your trip? What are you most excited about? Your journey starts now!

See you soon glimpsers!
