Hi everyone! Denise here – I will be the official blogger for tonight and tomorrow night. After that, the student Leaders of the Day will take over and start posting some amazing pictures of our daily adventures. There is so much cool stuff planned for you over the next 18 days! Please make sure to read and comment on our blog posts – Every night, we will read all of the great comments from all of you to the whole group to show that you’re talkin’ to us and we’re hearin’ ya.
Team Leon has landed and is ready to take on the day tomorrow! But first, let me tell you a little bit about the excitement of today! Props to all of the parents that met us all in the middle of the night to see us off. Both of our flights to get to Managua were as smooth as butter. But we were a tad bit groggy at 9:30 in the morning to meet up with Nancy and Noel, or wonderful in-country staff. We loaded our luggage onto a big school bus and headed for our 2 hour trek to Leon. We stopped by Nica’s biggest lake and took a pretty cute pic of all of us in front of the water and the volcano.
Attempting to get used to the heat and humidity, we tried to also start to get acquainted with a culture & safety orientation. We had our first two meals at Comedor Imabite, and there’s so much variety! Fresh mango juice! Tamarindo! yum. And now it’s about bed time, where we have a wake up call at 7am to get to breakfast and learn about the history and politics of Nicaragua. We’re pretty excited! Comment below to show us some love from home!
i miss you alinaaaa! love youu ??
Sounds like a great first 24 hours. We have been anxiously waiting for the update. I promised Alina I would comment with SF Giants scores. Battle of the bay Sf-8 Oak-5. Hope you are all enjoying “Gallo Pinto” and other local food. Have fun and ‘try and relax’. Mom, Dad, Aleksys, Adan, and Frankie
To Anthony Alvarez and Tommy Sokry,
I am so glad that you guys have landed in Leon. I can’t wait to talk to you guys both about how Leon went. Be open minded and remember to have a lot of fun.
Additionally, if you want Nancy to like you, talk to her about Neymar, Barcelona, IB, or USC. If you want Noel to like you, talk to him about his trips abroad to Rome or his three pairs of white converse.
I will be keeping up from San Jose. GO FALCONS.
Ahhhhh I’m so glad you guys landed safely! Hi tresha, Anthony, and Sokry! It’s your favorite ambassador Charles, and I want to wish you guys amazing trip! Sarry Poo we miss you!!! Taco and Snoop Dog have been waiting by the front door non stop since you left and kept going to your room looking for you. Making dinner last night with just Sonya and I seemed strange that is for sure. Hearing your voice when you called made me so happy! I was even happier to hear that the flights went well, that you really enjoyed the scenic tour from the last flight to the home you are staying in and that the home is really nice. I could tell by the tone of your voice you were smiling on the other end so that made me feel really good! As soon as we hung up I texted your sister (Sarry has a twin ya’ll!) your brother and Alex to let them know you had made it safe. Your brother says to keep that sun block on or you will be darker than him, Alex said she is looking forward to seeing the pics you post and in the sisterly fashion you two are accustomed to, Sonya did not respond! LOL But we did talk a lot about you last night. I will now post this website on my FB page so family and friends can see what you are up to too and send you messages as well. Whelp I better stop typing or you know mommy I will go on and on and on…know we all love you and are looking forward to the great stories you have when you return! XOXOXOXO
So thrilled I can keep tabs on my beautiful and amazing niece Sonya! Can’t wait to read the blogs, have fun everybody!

LOVE YOU HALEY, you are missed but we are very excited you are on this adventure. I almost texted you like 4 times by habit yesterday.
PS…I got to take care of Nick Banoserra Tuesday night. A friend accidently shot him in the arm with a BB gun. So I made sure he know what to do…It was surgically removed yesterday. (The BB not the arm. : )
