Bay Area Programs Coordinator

The Bay Area Programs Coordinator will work closely with our Bay Area Programs staff to support our partner school programs by promoting global awareness, social responsibility, and youth leadership in 50+ public high schools in the Bay Area region. The Programs Coordinator will train and support a network of highly committed volunteer high school educators to recruit outstanding student leaders for the program, run effective preparatory workshops in their schools, and prepare for a 16-day summer immersion in the developing world. The Programs Coordinator will also manage the Alumni Ambassador Leadership Program to continue to develop our students’ leadership skills for college and career readiness. This is a fast-paced work environment in a highly successful, growing international non-profit organization.

 

Principal Responsibilities

Bay Area Partner School Program

  • Support all aspects of the regional Partner School Program and be responsible for the full program lifecycle, including:
    • Volunteer educator recruitment and training
    • Student recruitment
    • Payment administration
    • Managing the preparatory workshop program during the academic year
    • Preparing the students and volunteer educators for summer programs
  • Support for these responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Respond with professional and timely email correspondence to all external stakeholders (parents, teachers, students, etc.)
    • Lead and facilitate fall student recruitment presentations and spring pre-trip parent orientations
    • Manage relationships with administrators and district-level supervisors
    • Support the planning and execution of three weekend trainings for 70+ teacher volunteers
    • Manage background checks and school regulations
    • Manage volunteers to read and evaluate student applications
    • Process tax documents for students applying for need-based scholarships, and follow up with families for missing or additional information during the scholarship review process
    • Log student payments into the program management system, and contact students and parents regarding upcoming or missing payments
    • Recruit independent trip leaders to lead the Global Glimpse summer immersion program, if necessary
    • Manage Bay Area phone line to answer program-related questions and to forward queries to appropriate staff
    • Collaborate and network with external partners to encourage program growth and sustainability (companies, schools, districts, nonprofits, etc.)

Alumni Ambassador Leadership Program

  • Co-Manage the Bay Area Alumni Ambassador Program (leadership development program for Global Glimpse students after they travel) including preparation, organization, and facilitation of weekend Summits that empower students to support the programs at their schools and continue to develop as young leaders
  • Administer program assessments to evaluate program success and effectiveness
  • Track Alumni Ambassador commitment levels throughout the year and roll out creative initiatives to keep students engaged during their busy senior year

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the K-12 education system, a strong network in the Bay Area preferred

Development Operations Coordinator

Global Glimpse is seeking a motivated Development Operations Coordinator to join our dynamic fundraising and development team. The Development Operations Coordinator will support our individual and business contribution generation and management, grants management, and development operations. This position will work closely with the Development Team to help meet the organization’s ambitious fundraising and growth goals. This is a full-time position based in Global Glimpse’s Berkeley, CA headquarters and an opportunity for an ambitious and creative individual to get hands-on experience in a fast-paced, highly successful, growing international non-profit organization.

 

Principal Responsibilities

High Net Worth Key Relationships 

  • Support the Executive Director to research new high net worth (HNW) key relationship donors and maintain a comprehensive list of individuals for prospecting and cultivation 
  • Manage record-keeping, scheduling, and holding the Development Team accountable on key action items following external engagements
  • Write donor thank you cards and prepare thank you gifts for HNW key relationships
  • Track donor metrics quarterly and annually, help develop strong donor engagement strategies to drive a high percentage of repeat donors

Institutional & Corporate Funding 

  • Research prospective institutional and corporate funding opportunities to develop and expand a strong revenue pipeline
  • Aggressively monitor lifecycle for all prospective and renewing opportunities to ensure Development Team members are aware of and prepared for key funder dates and deadlines pertaining to letters of intent, proposals, renewals, and reports
  • Help maintain an up-to-date grant kit with language and materials to support grant proposals across all Global Glimpse U.S. and international program regions
  • Provide administrative support for corporate events on logistics, supplies, and pre and/or post-team responsibilities

 

Fundraising Operations

  • Ensure donors and funders are accurately listed in all organization collateral and website
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor database and records in Salesforce, including donation tracking and reporting and pulling lists for mailings
  • Generate reports and data analyses to track fundraising efforts against organizational goals
  • Process donations and gift acknowledgment letters accurately and in a timely manner and assist with the fulfillment of donor and sponsor benefits
  • Support with year-end fundraising and annual fundraising and appreciation campaigns through mailings, donor recognition, and drafting campaign correspondence
  • Support with major fundraising events; including but not limited to operational support with ticket sales, day-of-logistics, etc.
  • Monitor donor retention rates to help ensure that the organization meets or exceeds the industry standard of 45%
  • Monitor and track Global Glimpse’s presence on third party fundraising platforms such as Razoo and Crowdrise

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of work experience with demonstrated success in fundraising

Director of Finance

Global Glimpse is a thriving non-profit organization with a $5.0 million annual budget, a strong earned income business model, and an engaged and diverse portfolio of philanthropic investors.  The Director of Finance will play a crucial role in preparing the organization for the next stage of growth. The Director of Finance is responsible for oversight of all financial aspects of the organization including accounting, budgeting, financial analysis and reporting, annual audits, and strategic financial planning.  Global Glimpse is financially healthy, with strong systems in place, a healthy financial reserve, and a history of clean audits. The successful candidate will be an excellent leader and manager who is willing to get their hands dirty to learn all elements of Global Glimpse’s finances so that they are positioned to lead the growth of a strong finance team.

Principal Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Budgeting

  • Direct organizational annual budget preparation and in partnership with the senior leadership team and ensure strong financial acumen across all departments
  • Oversee the prudent and on-going monitoring of annual organization budget and financial demands to ensure a sustainable future
  • Maintain positive cash flow and net assets available for operations. Monitor cash reserve.  Assist senior leadership team in monitoring and making decisions about investments.
  • Conduct regular analysis of program costs and market pricing in order to optimize Global Glimpse’s financial returns
  • Track and analyze the financial impact of student recruitment goals, student acceptance numbers, and new school partnerships to ensure program revenue is maximized while still maintaining socioeconomic diversity of the program.
  • Develop and upgrade financial management systems and technology to ensure effective and accurate financial oversight and management.
  • Manage all Global Glimpse bank accounts and banking relationships including overseeing the investment of Global Glimpse financial reserves to maximize returns

 

Accounting & Audits

  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable 
  • Manage all US and international accounting and financial functions of the organization including data entry and bookkeeping for the first 6 months to learn our US and international accounting systems, then transition to manage an administrator/bookkeeper to do data entry.
  • Manage the international finance team including the Director of International Finances and financial administrators in Ecuador, Panama, and the Dominican Republic
  • Ensure successful and responsible strategic development and management of Global Glimpse finances
  • Manage US and international bookkeeping and data entry with 100% accuracy

 

Financial Reporting & Education

  • Produce monthly and quarterly financial reports for senior team review and quarterly reports for Board of Director Review. 
  • Conduct quarterly budget forecasting across all departments, support department leads to forecast accurately and work with senior leadership team to reallocate resources effectively when necessary
  • Development of financial materials for all Global Glimpse Board of Director Meetings 
  • Lead biannual financial education seminars for the full Global Glimpse team to build financial acumen and understanding across all functions of the organization

 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated record of 5-7 years of success in financial management, fiscal accountability, and financial sustainability, with a particular focus on nonprofit financial management and accounting standards, policies, and procedures
  • Demonstrated record of success in financial management and leadership
  • Skilled systems manager, including financial management technology
  • Strong business analysis and management experience
  • B.S. degree, or equivalent, in a relevant field such as economics, finance, accounting, business, operations, or nonprofit management. Preferred: M.B.A. or M.P.A
  • Preferred international financial experience establishing bank accounts and managing international financial laws and taxes
  • Excel wizard with excellent analysis and reporting skills 
  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and a capacity for engaging with a diverse US and international staff equitably
  • Demonstrated experience with financial analytics, payment tracking, accounting, budget development and management

Director of Fundraising & Development

Global Glimpse is seeking a motivated Director of Fundraising & Development to lead our dynamic development team. The Director of Fundraising & Development will oversee the organization’s relationships with institutional funders, individual donors, and corporate partners,  and have the opportunity to manage revenue-generating initiatives on a national scale.

This position will work closely with our Executive Director to meet the organization’s ambitious fundraising and growth goals. The Director of Fundraising & Development oversees all aspects of the organization’s fundraising strategy and will drive the vision and culture to grow a high-performing team. This is a full-time position based in any of Global Glimpse’s U.S. offices – Berkeley, CA; Denver, CO; Chicago, IL; or New York, NY – and is an opportunity for an ambitious and creative individual to get hands-on experience in a fast-paced, highly successful, growing international non-profit organization.

Principal Responsibilities

Individual & Community Giving 

  • Collaborate with Executive Director to steward and cultivate HNW Individual Relationships, defined as donors who contribute over $10,000 annually; to grow portfolio by 80% over the next two years
  • Drive activities focused on soliciting and cultivating an “Impact Circle” of mid-level community supporters, defined as donors who contribute at the $10,000-level annually
  • Oversee vision and strategy to solicit and cultivate a “Passport Circle” of community-level supporters, defined as donors who contribute at the $1,000-level annually
  • Roll out strategies to maximize the donor life cycle for community-level supporters by ensuring that touchpoints with the organization are strategic, intentional, and designed to maximize engagement
  • Implement strategies to maximize donor retention and engagement in order to ensure that the organization meets or exceeds the industry standard of 45% donor retention over the next 2 years
  • Oversee vision and strategy for annual giving campaigns; including but not limited to Year-End Giving season and key programmatic dates. 
  • Oversee Development department administration and operations; including but not limited to database management on Salesforce, stewardship strategies, sourcing pipelines, etc.

 

Institutional Funding 

  • Develop, recommend and execute a plan to identify, cultivate and acquire new funding prospects among institutional foundations to grow institutional funding portfolio by 30% over the next two years
  • Manage stewardship and engagement of existing institutional funders, and develop strategies to renew and increase support annually
  • Manage the full lifecycle of institutional funding, including but not limited to, drafting funder updates, tracking deadlines, and pulling content and budgets to draft and submit letters of intent, proposals, and reports
  • Collaborate closely across departmental teams to ensure conditional funding is closely monitored and commitments to funders are fulfilled

 

Regional Leadership Councils 

  • Manage the national Regional Leadership Council (RLC) strategy and ensure RLC managers are maximizing RLC relationships and opportunities
  • Manage regional staff members to steward committee goals, annual member give + gets, council culture, and new member acquisition and renewal strategy
  • Steward high potential RLC members with fundraising potential or access to corporate opportunities in line with the organization’s priorities and goals 
  • Serve as the primary staff liaison for national RLC communications


Corporate Engagement 

  • Oversee department strategy to grow and manage corporate funding portfolio 
  • Liaise relations with Program Staff and Senior Leadership Team to ensure seamless integration between partners and programming

 

Impact Evaluation 

  • Oversee strategy for program impact evaluation for program alumni beyond high school graduation to ensure measurement criteria fulfill the needs and interests of funders
  • Lead vision for production of annual Impact Report to showcase the organization’s work to a diverse community of stakeholders and funders

Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of proven fundraising experience managing a $2M+ diverse portfolio of funders 
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit management, communications, administration, or a related field
  • Passion for international education and youth development
  • Proven track record securing and growing five to six-figure major gifts 
  • Superb written, oral, and interpersonal skills, and consistently high attention to detail
