ROLLOVER STUDENT PROGRAM OPTIONS
This summer we will be offering an in-person travel experience to Costa Rica that responsibly balances ongoing risks related to COVID-19 with our commitment to provide young people with powerful opportunities to expand their global perspective, develop meaningful connections, and take action to better their local and global communities. In order to adhere to strict COVID-19 safety measures, we will be limiting the number of students that travel with Global Glimpse this summer and only offering travel spots to currently enrolled students.
Though vaccines may be fully distributed by the summer in the US it is very unlikely that this will be true in the communities where we work in Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and Panama. We hope to return to these countries for spring break and summer programming in 2022.
We hope the following options will support you and your family to make thoughtful choices about your travel plans in the coming months. Please review the following three options and then fill out the 2021 Rollover Student Program Options Request Form found at the bottom of this page.
Option #1. TRAVEL TO BEAUTIFUL COSTA RICA THIS SUMMER
In response to COVID-19, we are launching a new travel option for the 2021 summer! This summer all programs will take place primarily on a remote nature reserve in Costa Rica with a strong focus on conservation, sustainable living, and social, environmental, and racial justice. By traveling to a single, relatively remote location at a privately managed eco-reserve, we minimize risks associated with COVID-19 and maximize learning opportunities for students.
All trips will be 9 days long and take place in July and August. We have developed program locations, pre-departure requirements, and health and safety measures to minimize risk for our students, staff, and local communities. Students will travel, learn, and serve in pods of 15 -18 and live together with a diverse group of their peers at the eco-reserve. All trips to Costa Rica will support students to build empathy, agency, and global perspective through leadership development, cultural immersion, and service-learning. Interactions and activities with local community members will be limited to reduce risk.
Global Glimpse will honor your scholarship and tuition cost and roll over all payments made to date. If you are interested in this type of program experience please read more about why we chose Costa Rica & a sample trip itinerary, check out our comprehensive COVID-19 Travel Policies & FAQs, or watch a pre-pandemic video from our Costa Rica program partners Ecology Project International to learn more.
Option #2. STAY ENROLLED & TRAVEL INTERNATIONALLY NEXT SPRING
We are designing special Spring Break 2022 programs for students ages 17-20 who were not able to travel during the COVID-19 pandemic. This program will only be available to 2020 rollover students and be tailored specifically for high school seniors and high school graduates who are looking for an eye-opening experience post-pandemic with more community engagement.
Global Glimpse will honor your scholarship and tuition cost and roll over all payments made to date. We are hopeful that we will be able to return to our program sites in Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and Panama by next spring and we will provide more information on spring break program options once we have more information on the vaccine rollout in the fall of 2021.
Option #3. WITHDRAW FROM THE GLOBAL GLIMPSE PROGRAM
We understand that travel is not a priority for everyone at this time and we will work to support all families who wish to withdraw from the Global Glimpse program. If you are not interested in traveling this summer or next spring you have the option to receive a full refund of any payments made to-date minus the $50 non-refundable deposit. We will also refund all donations made to your online account by family or friends. Due to credit card processing policies, we have to make all refunds via check and our team will be working to mail all checks by April 29th.
We have worked incredibly hard over the past year to provide value for our students and families through uncertain times. If you benefited from our virtual programming and value our work, we hope you will consider making a tax-deductible donation of all or a portion of your payments made to date to support the Global Glimpse Endurance Fund.
We are a nonprofit organization and your support will help us to rebuild and continue to provide scholarships to students from low income backgrounds. Our team can work with you to figure out the donation amount that works for your family and you will receive a donation receipt recognizing your tax-deductible donation to Global Glimpse. Thank you so much for considering this option to support future Glimpsers, our staff, and the communities we serve.
Please click the button below to complete your 2021 Rollover Student Program Options Request Form by April 1st, 2021. If your request is not submitted by April 1st and we have not heard from you, Global Glimpse will consider any tuition you have paid thus far to be a donation to the Global Glimpse Endurance Fund. Don’t worry, we will follow up with friendly reminders before the deadline.
