Buenas días from Matagalpa! We woke up bright and early this morning at 6am for another day of our community action project. We started off with a breakfast of rice and beans, scrambled eggs, tortillas, cheese and juice. We arrived at the school and quickly got to work! It was all hands on deck painting the walls of the kitchen white and painting the border purple. We made sure to stay hydrated throughout the process! Our lunch was delivered to us, hot and ready! Our meal consisted of chicken, rice, mash potatoes, beets, tortillas, and soda. Towards our last 2 hours of working we made progress on the mural, finishing touches on the walls, cleaning the floor, and painting shelves. When we got back to the hostel, we were able to have 2 hours of free time before dinner. Where some groups went to go call home, buy food and snacks, and souvenirs. We all arrived back in time and safely for dinner at 5pm. Then we left for our English tutoring at 5:45 for our second to last day! Most of our lesson plans consisted of preparing for our talent show on Thursday. As our day came to an end, we prepared for our nightly meeting, where we surprised Saida with a gift basket with snacks and a rosary for her amazing positivity through out the trip! We shared our thorns and roses of the day and passed the torch over to the new leaders! Hasta mañana!

Marti, Erika and delegation, I am happy to read your 2017 Global Glimpse blogs! It is crazy to think that just last year I was part of the Esteli, Nicaragua blogs. I am back to this page, but as a college student. How I wish I can go back to those days, I miss everything about the experience.
Erika, I hope we can still meet up after your trip.
Sending BIG LOVE to all of you from UC Berkeley!
Wow, you’ve all accomplished so much in such a short period of time. I wonder if you have the energy to realize that at the end of the day. Sometimes that’s difficult when you’re right in the midst of it all. What an amazing group you are, take time to reflect.I can’t believe it’s almost the end of your tutoring sessions too. Love the photos. You look happy Mari, hope you are having time with the children too. We miss you so much but proud of your spirit to keep on going. Can’t wait to see you and hear about your experiences. Love m, d, k, m, d. (p.s. your animal charges have had it, grumpily waiting for your return)

Hi Claire, Take pictures of the murals for me! Your cat Daisy has missed you so much that she decided to leave home … we started putting up Lost Cat notices yesterday and feeling pretty sad. The good news is she appeared last night to break her hunger strike. We are all looking forward to you coming home but Daisy feels this emotion very intensely. She gave me lots of kisses for you!
