Good evening everyone from Esteli, Nicaragua! We all arrived safely last night in Managua, after our 9 hours of air time with American Airlines, where we met our incredible GG coordinators, Henrietta & Humberto! They are simply awesome. After a slick transfer from the airport to our hostel in Managua, we had a fun outdoor pizza dinner with some neighborhood cats, a humid sky, and an interesting power failure.
This morning we boarded our bus for the 3-hour drive to Esteli, where the air is much more comfortable and our hostel is beautiful. We’ve been introduced to gallo pinto (rice & beans), enjoyed a wonderful walking tour of the neighborhood near our hostel, and enjoyed some ice cream after dinner. Today’s theme was history, depicted by many of the murals on the buildings nearby.
We’re all tired but very happy to be here. Look forward now to daily blog updates actually written by students from the mighty E1C in Esteli!
So happy to hear you made it to Esteli (and got ice cream!). Looking forward to more daily posts. We miss you and love you, Helen.
