Hi everyone!
My name is Solana Chertow and I go to Lowell High School in San Francisco. Outside of school I’m a coxswain on a club rowing team, and that basically takes up 100% of my time.
If I were an animal I think I’d want to be a cat because they sleep almost all day I mean who wouldn’t love that and they are super calm which I aspire to be sometimes although I’m normally hyper, happy, and jumping around.
The most exciting thing about our trip to Nicaragua for me would be the completely new experience. I’ve gone to the same sleep away camp for the past nine years and even though it’ll be strange not heading back there this summer, I’m ready to learn about something new and “expand my horizons.”
Attached is a picture of me at my friend’s graduation(I’m the one not graduating obviously).
See you soon!
Solana
Hi sweetheart!
We miss you already, but we know you’re having fantastic adventures. If you have a moment, send me a note and let me know how you’re doing. And don’t forget your hat, sunscreen, and the all-important mosquito repellent!
Love,
Mom

Dear Solana, we were thrilled to read your letter and to see all the interesting things you and the rest of your group are doing, also we were very happy to hear that all is well and that you are having fun!
You might be interested to know that long ago, even before I was born, when my parents were living in Cuba my father and a couple of friends owned coffee plantations in the mountains outside the town where we lived, I remember sometimes they would bring the coffee beans and lay it all out in the park across the street from our house, they do this to dry it out. Unfortunately one of his paartneers was killed by the “bandidos” and that was the end of my father going back to the coffee plantations. We love hearing from ;you and send you lots of love. Cuca & Lloyd were here for a couple of days and they also send you regards. Love, Baba & Dan
