Hola familias,
Today we started our day with breakfast at El Tren. We had grilled cheese (eggs with veggies for the gluten free folks), bananas and an oatmeal drink. After breakfast, we drove to Mt. Chimborazo where we took pictures at a high altitude of 15,700 feet. Here we were challenged mentally and physically when the altitude made breathing uncomfortable at times and having the overcome fears of heights and slipping. Next we drove to the Enchanted forest, Polylepis and unfortunately due to windy conditions, were unable to go on our hike and instead took pictures and admired the view of Chimborazo. After hiking and taking pictures, We drove to San juan a smaller town outside of Riobamba and ate at La Tertulia. We enjoyed potato soup, chicken, salad and watermelon. Once we were finished with our lunch we drove back Riobamba and had two hours of free time. During this time some students went to the local market, panaderia (bakery), and local shops. Our final Riobamba dinner was at D’baggio with pizza and salad. We concluded our night with our final nightly meeting. We have had an amazing 17 days but are looking forward to heading home tomorrow. For the rest of the night we will be packing and enjoying our last night in the beautiful Riobamba, Ecuador.
much love,
Annie and Paola
