Hello friends, families, and fellow Glimpsers! Today was our first fun day of the trip, and what’s more fun than waking up at 5 A.M. to start the day? After a long bus ride, we arrived to Somoto Canyon, where we were guided by the Namancambre Tour office as we hiked, swam, and jumped of off some rocks into the water.
Our quote of the day was, “the greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it,” said by Moliere. The group truly exemplified that today as we overcame the obstacles and fears that were presented to us, maintaining a positive attitude and supporting one another, despite complications.
Tomorrow will be our “Living Like a Local” day, in which we’ll pair up with each other and go about the day with local families and trying to live on the same amount and in the same style as they would. The day will present many challenges, but all Glimpsers are going in eager and with an open mind.
Hey guys! By the time you read this, you’ll be finished and reflecting living like a local day. You guys just saw first hand how living conditions are for everyday people in 3rd world countries. Think of how fortunate you guys are compared to them. Keep in mind however you guys aren’t necessarily richer and happier than them. You guys saw how they can share warm smiles with you and open up their homes like it’s theirs. What I love about Nicraguan culture is that they are super open with strangers and share big love for one and another. Also, even though you have much more than them, a person with a bad heart and many things is severely poor. What I told the last Jinotega delegation is that being rich, is not how much you have, but what you can give. You should definitely show love to everyone you appreciate, because that’s the next payment you can get in this world. Anyways last shoutout to Tkim :-)). I hope you’re having a fun time and I’m proud of you lil kid. Btw, tell the comedor that I said hi and I love them, con todo mi corazon. Thu told me how they really miss me and always mention me to them. I want them to know that I don’t forget the amount of love they gave me for those 18 days. The amount of love they gave me, is enough to love anyone for a lifetime. I’m tearing up typing this LOOL. Goodnight tkim and rest if Jinotega squad!
