Hola Families and Friends!!
We are so excited to be the first Global Glimpse delegation in Riobamba this summer! We started our day with a beautiful and scenic 4 hour drive from Quito to Riobamba; we made it safe and sound. Once in Riobamba, we were greeted by the great hotel staff at Hotel Primavera and had a delicious meal.
Jonathan and Paco provided us with an orientation to the program. After our orientation, we had our first cultural immersion experience. We learned dance moves from a traditional folkloric group who taught us about “La Toma de la Plaza” (the invasion of the town square). “La Toma de la Plaza” is one of the most popular folkloric dances in Ecuador which was known as a Revolutionary Act that the Ecuadorians participated in during the Spanish conquest. The students had a great time learning the dance moves and getting to dance with the folkloric group members.
Finally, we ended our night with another delicious meal and our first nightly meeting where we reflected and shared out thoughts about our first day in Riobamba.
Stay tuned for Day 3!
Looks like a lot of fun, complete with traditional clothing! (Would be great if the photos had links to view a larger size.) Thank you!!

Pranav and Kelsey,
I’m so glad to hear you’ve made it to Riobamba safely! It is such a beautiful city and I know you’re going to have a great time. I know it may feel a little awkward or overwhelming at first, but you’ve got this! Go-all in, embrace new friends, and get excited for an awesome trip. I am excited to hear about how your experiences in Riobamba compare to mine from last summer once we’re back at DV.
Big Love,
Mrs. Oji
I miss you Mi Le 🙁

I second the request from Eric Braun… Hopefully, when you guys are back, we have access to bigger pics… In addition, I want to see videos of the dance moves!!! Please tell me that someone had recorded it!
Seeing your happy face with such wonderful people in such wonderful settings just made me very jealous… This is going to be such a beautiful experience even though it can be exhausting at times… When you are back, please share your wonderful moments/stories with us!
Thank you Eric Braun and Chung Ley for catching the small size of the photos. I’ve gone ahead and uploaded the full size versions. It looks like a fun group!
