PARENTS AND FRIENDS – PLEASE POST YOUR COMMENTS AND THOUGHTS AT THE END OF THE BLOG! YOUR POSTS ARE SHARED WITH THE GLIMPSERS AND IT’S A GREAT WAY TO LET THEM KNOW YOU ARE THINKING OF THEM!
Today was like no other, first ever day working like a local. We began our day waking up at 7 am, and as usual walking to Roma Santa to enjoy Isabelle’s most delicious foods. From there we took a field trip to a farm to be greeted by Don Jaime. We began by collecting fertilizer (chicken poop) and potatoes to prepare to plant them. We spent two hours in total to fully experience what it is like to work like a local. We took dozens of photos, and had an amazing experience. At the end of our hard work, we were infinitely thanked by Don Jaime himself. We had the honor to gift Don Jaime a special Global Glimpse handbag. After this miraculous adventure, full of dirt in our faces, we headed back to eat a delightful lunch at Roma Santa.
After getting food in our stomachs we prepared for our second English lesson. We spent an hour or so preparing ourselves to help the students learn English to the best of our abilities. After vigorous prepping, we decided to create helpful posters and games to keep our students engaged. As mentioned in the previous blog the students were prepared to take part in the English tutoring. The students were fully engaged and had a wonderful time while learning much of the English language. The games with flashcards we prepared had them learning the family tree by the end of our time with them. Tutoring gave us an appetite which led us to Roma Santa. There we ate pasta Alfredo and were introduced to a special surprise known as karaoke at dinner. Ramon, Jax, and Lencho ended the special night with their beautiful voices (singing Mexican music, frozen songs, and more). Finally ending the day by passing on the torch to the next leaders!
You guys are doing an amazing job. Karaoke sounds like the perfect ending to a fun hard work day!!
Jax, I am so excited and proud of you for what you are doing for yourself and others.
WOW!!! What a day. Ok Glimpsers, bagging chicken poop and planting potatoes is exactly why you need to go to college LOL that was some dirty, back breaking work. Looks like you all cleaned up nicely and from the pictures you looked like you knew what you were doing teaching. I’m sure after a hard days work you will all have a good nights sleep. Thank you for today’s update I love seeing what you do every day.
Natalie you look very happy, I am so proud of you and your team, keep up the good work.
As always we love you and miss you very much, besitos hija.
Love,
mom
Anson Tan, the man! It looks like you and your friends are having fun! We all miss you back home. It’s great to hear that you got practice collecting fertilizer, now you can take care of the new chickens we bought after hearing this wonderful news. See you soon, Damon is actually planning the camping trip.
Max, Rose and Jocee: you look WONDERFUL after farming! I bet Isabelle and all of Roma Santa were delighted to see, or smell, all of you coming. Max, your dad used to use that same fertilizer, so I am well aquatinted with the lovely perfume of chicken poop. Good luck to everyone with teaching – I know you’ll all do great. And thanks for calling us yesterday, Max. It’s so awesome when I get to hear your voice, because I miss you so so much. The house is not the same without you, but I’m happy you’re there having a wonderful time. Kisses.
Diana Marie-
That a girl working on that farm!! You all look like you are having such a wonderful experience. Keep up the good work. Sis, remember to soak it all in and that we love you!!
P.S. The animals love and miss you too. Sending you a hug and kiss!
I can’t be more proud of all of you ! Chicken poop ?#@$%& ?? Haha
I still can’t stop thinking of the leaf & egg cleansings & I believe, not only were your souls cleansed but it seems you minds, as well, were cleared of all the doubts & inhibitions you may have been carrying. I think it’s so cool that you are taking this opportunity to do & learning new things, then turning around and giving back by teaching the locals. You are truly a wonderful group of individuals. And the most
important thing, have fun!!
