Hola! After our red eye flight that took us from San Francisco with a transfer in San Salvador, the eighteen students and two GG leaders landed safely in Managua, Nicaragua. We met Silvan and Roxana, our site manager and our program coordinator. They greeted us with warm smiles and lovely hand made bracelets from Matagalpa. From Managua, we took a two hour ride in a “suped up” school bus and finally made it to Matagalpa and settled into our abode for the next eighteen days, Hostel El Ray. We ate lunch and Silvan and Roxana gave the students the introductory workshops, recapping rules and customs. Students were able to make brief phone calls home to let family know we arrived. The students have already begun bonding well. Now it’s off to bed with our city tour and history workshops for day two.
Have a great 18 days, we can’t wait to hear all about your amazing experience!!!

Alexis. Christina. Marla. We didn’t forget y’all! (But are we forgetting any of our other kids? Sorry, we’re growing old, our vision is failing us, and the picture is too small.) Wish y’all the same as Calvin… don’t stick to each other too much and open up to your new family for the eighteen days!

Vicky, you’re on this trip too? Is everyone from A Hill going to Matagalpa this year? Nat’s ecstatic, but Kev and Vi are not (GO ESTELI!).
