Last week we welcomed an incredible community of champions to visit our program in Ecuador for our annual Leadership Trip! Board members, partners, and supporters from United Airlines, Google, SeatGeek, MacArthur Foundation, First Republic Bank, and Macquarie Group had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the GG curriculum, learning about indigenous traditions and culture with students from Chicago, the Bay Area, and New York.

Leadership trip guests join students from Chicago for an Ecuadorian dance class where they learned traditional dances from the Central Andes.

“From visiting a daycare in the mountain village of Llullundongo to participating in an ancient water cleansing ceremony led by a local shaman and eating meals made entirely from ingredients farmed in front of us, this trip was immensely different from what typically fills my travel itinerary. The time spent with the indigenous people was unlike anything I’ve ever done before and I will never forget it.” – Declan Wolfe, First Republic Bank, San Francisco Regional Leadership Council

Yariemy Paez, a NYC Glimpser fluent in Spanish, translated for her peers as they learned about traditional herbs and indigenous medicinal practices from a local Shaman (a traditional healer).

Bay Area students after they completed their Community Action Project in the community of Llulludongo. They worked with the community to build a new playground, install sinks, and build a staircase for a pre-school that serves indigenous kids ages 1-4.

“Global Glimpse is a gateway to global compassion and connectedness. It was truly an honor to witness the power of this program in person.” – Sharon Grant, United Airlines

“I had the joy of experiencing the community, culture and countryside alongside students from Global Glimpse. It was incredibly powerful for us all. I’m grateful to be a part of this organization that truly changes perspective and mindset for thousands of young leaders.” – Jennifer Ogden-Reese, SeatGeek

Big love to the students, educators, and community partners who made this experience possible. We are excited to take our work to the next level with this visionary team!
