Dear Family and Friends,
We started off the day with a great breakfast from Isabel and Nelson (our main food providers). After that, we took a 40-minute bus ride to Palacio Real where we met up with Trinidad, a local member of the indigenous community. She then took us on a tour of the town describing the plant and animal life along with the history of the Valencia family and Simon Bolivar. After our tour, we ate at the local restaurant where we tried llama. To finish up our stay in Palacio Real, the painter Pablo Sanaguano allowed us to express our thoughts and feelings through art. We then returned to Riobamba where we went on our second tour of the day. We walked through the city and discussed the history surrounding important landmarks. For dinner, we returned to Isabel and Nelson where we were served meatballs and potatoes along with cake to celebrate our Program Coordinator Paco’s birthday! We ended the day with our nightly meeting where we passed the torch to Lucas B. and Ronan who will be leaders of the day tomorrow.
