Bright and early we all woke up at 5:40 and went to breakfast, with our full bellies we drove to pick up a few more supplies and arrived at the school. Although we arrived on time, we were delayed a couple minutes due to the locked gates which we carefully climbed (with a ladder). To all parents, friends and special friends reading, don’t worry your loved ones are perfectly fine. The minute we got passed the gate we all got to work, finishing up painted walls, hop scotch, building soccer goals, and putting finishing touches on the garden. Everything was going smooth until the adorable but deadly kids came by to check out the place and lend a hand, literally, maybe a few hands too many. They each stamped their hand prints on benches, walls, tires, and floors to pull together our ideal design.
Our project was transforming from a dream into reality, it was unbelievable how much 20 people with a big heart and determination can accomplish in just 3 days. I was extremely proud to be apart of such hardworking and free spirited people. As we continued working for about 4 more hours after lunch, everyone laid in awe of our finished product, a full mural, a set of benches and soccer goals, tires filled with plants and beautiful light catcher bottles made out of glass and sequence all came together to create a whole new learning environment for the kids. The space was uplifted from grey concrete walls to bright and vibrant colors that excites the kids to go to school every morning.
On the bus ride home we were all relieved and proud as we contemplated where we would go for our 45 minute free time. Some went to cyber cafe and called loved ones back home, while some went on a smoothie and snack run. Dinner and nightly meeting followed afterwards as always and eventually led to me sitting here writing this blog. Thank you for reading and don’t be shy to leave a comment! We love hearing from you and miss home dearly. Most of us more than others, I love and miss a special friend back home and I hope he’s reading this. Anyways thanks again for keeping in touch everyone, come back to hear what adventure or trouble we get into tmr on our free day without supervision!

PPS: Eric wrote that and might be the only one who thinks that, just kidding!
Hi Sandy, thank you for giving Eric so nice comments. I am smiling all night long! Your CAP project is amazing! People can be easily convinced that this project was achieved by professional designers and decorators. Please put it to your portfolios as you are our future landscape designers, graphic artists, architects and creative educators! I am not shy to shout out that you have done terrific job. Kudos to all of you!
I love the idea of having local kids’ hand prints on the floor (playground?), giving the lively connection and bondage between the new school and new students. What a great finishing touch for this CAP project!
Thank you for giving the new school a big face lift! I am so sure it will impact students’ lives for years to come.
Have a relaxing free day tomorrow! You all deserve a big break time, don’t you?
Have been eagerly checking for today’s blog all evening 🙂 Amazing! You all accomplished so much in three short days! What you have done will impact and inspire the children for a very long time! I can see how vibrant and alive the school now looks; all of of your hard work has really paid off! You all deserve to be proud of your accomplishment (your 45 minute free time was well earned :)))
Love those handprints, that is a very creative idea. I am sure that after taking part in so many philanthropic endeavors, you feel empowered to take your strength, spirit, and resiliency to greater heights. I am sure you will all carry this fortitude with you in whatever path you forge in your future. I know you will all be impassioned and strong leaders for us someday soon.
Sidra, miss you. Hugs!
Keep us posted, love reading!
Hey San,
First of all, I read all of your blogs, I just haven’t been leaving a comment because of work. I knew what you’re up to because of this cool blog. Shout out to all of you for posting those daily activities. I hope Sandy is not giving you all any trouble, she can get out of hands at time. Just kidding! But great job on the CAP project guys, ya’ll got down and dirty based on the picture I’m analyzing right now. Super proud of you San, I always am but you find new ways to sunrise me. You all went to a different country to serve, and had some wild time a long the way I’m sure, but it’s so cool to see people come together and just work, and no one complained. If the people haven’t said enough, I would like to say thank you, for taking 3 weeks off of your summer and got out of your comfort zone. You all make kids like me look bad for staying home all summer. On top of the serious note, I hope all you had a good time! Fun time don’t always last a long time. And San you trouble maker, I’m very excited to see you again. I could write a novel of how much I miss you, but for now, I’ll past on the message to your special friend for you, in return, come home soon, not too soon because I’m having a lot of fun without you here, HAHAHAHA, no I’m playing! It’s raining right now, in the mist of summer, we’re having a lighting storm with heavy rain. I hope the heat didn’t get to you all! Again, it’s always so delightful to read about your day San.
