Today, we started with an early wake-up call at 6:30 in the morning. Then we had breakfast, which consisted of empanadas with a side of eggs. Once we were done eating, we started to hit the road to Guano to see the factory Cerquié, which is where they make quinoa cereal. Quinoa is a healthy grain grown and used in Ecuador. The founder and engineer, Eduardo, showed us the entire process of how the cereal was made.

Afterward, we headed to Zapatería Arévalo to see how they make leather shoes. This is a small family business. As Dora and Vicente put all the parts of the shoes together, they taught us that the process to build a pair of shoes could take up to 4 hours.

Overall, we learned more about the way that our consumer choices affect the community and the importance of supporting small businesses.
