Hello families!

We had a very exciting (but LONG) arrival process to the DR. We got to the airport very late and were promptly shuttled to our temporary hotel in Santiago called Hotel Aloha. We only slept a few hours (like 4?) and then had a sweltering breakfast together as our first meal. We then started a long and winding journey toward Constanza!

John may have gotten a bit too motion sick to process what was happening, but the rest of us had a VERY nice nap on the way there. When we got to our hotel in Constanza, we put our things in our room and headed off to lunch. The restaurant in the hotel is called Dilenia’s, and we fell in LOVE with the food there! We all had a meal of salad, rice, beans, and chicken. Almost all of us went back for seconds it was that good!

We then had about two hours of free time, in which our Glimpsers all made friendship bracelets and played Uno together! Special thanks to Katya for bringing the string, that was a GREAT friendship-building activity! We then had our two seminars: Welcome & Culture as well as Safety. We then completed all of our health form checks and money handoffs. John will be headed into town tomorrow with Jean Carlos to exchange the money. Don’t worry, we won’t be spending like crazy!

After completing our health checks, we had frito con salami for dinner. It consisted of fried green plantain and a type of sausage with peppers and onions. It was delicious! We then had our LAST seminar for the day on what the Leader del Dia (Leader of the Day) will be responsible for. Tomorrow is our trial run with me and John taking on the role of LDD. Wish us luck!

With that, we got the kiddos off to bed for a much-needed night of sleep. Off to MANY exciting adventures tomorrow that you will hear about soon.

Buenas noches,

Holli (:
