Hi there,

My name is Brittany Daley and I will be one of the trip leaders for the AMAZING Jinotega trip! I am so excited to meet all of the members on our wonderful team and anxiously awaiting the start of our adventure. But first…..a little bit about me!

I grew up in San Diego, but moved to San Jose two years ago to be a teacher. I teach second grade at a bilingual charter school in East San Jose. Before moving to San Jose, I lived and went to school at UC Santa Barbara….GO GAUCHOS! In college I double majored in Global Studies and Spanish. When I’m not teaching I love to bake, read, watch movies, hike, go to the beach and actually do just about anything.

I am so excited to travel with all of our teammates and become a beautiful little familia during our time together. I had never been out of the United States until my third year in college when I decided to move abroad to Spain for a year. As I learned to slow down and truly appreciate what I saw around me I learned more about who I was, who I wanted to be and what mattered to me in life. After Spain, I moved to South Africa for four months and that year abroad is what changed me; I changed my career, my outlook, my mission. I am so excited to share a similar experience with you all. I know our views will be challenged, our love for life strengthened, our understanding of our mission defined and our passions ignited.

I am gonna end by posting two quotes that I love:

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.”-Roald Dahl

“We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community… Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own.” -Cesar Chavez
