Hello family and friends. Today it was Adrian’s and Leydianis’ turn to be Leaders of the Day. Each and every one of our students will get the chance to tell you in their own way their view of the day. Here is ours:

Note: We apologize for any grammatical mistakes in our text (Spanish is our native language).

We started our journey by meeting up for a buffet breakfast, but first, we had a quick meeting to make sure we were clear about allergies and dietary restrictions. The breakfast was soooooooo good, we wish you could all be here with us.

Some students go to begin their day with a nice and quick dip into the fantastic waters of the Quality Hotel.

After breakfast, we all brought our luggage to the lobby and helped our driver Moises to put it inside the bus. The two-hour drive to our base house was filled with music that students got to choose. I (Leydi) even got the chance the play one of my favorite songs “Caraluna” by the Colombian group “Bacilos”, but we also got to hear students’ preferences in music and through that got to know them better.

On our way, home made a quick stop at a lookout from which we could see old churches, a dam, and the mountain range.

Then we got to our base house called Alas Azules (Blue Wings) which makes reference to the super special and Leydi’s favorite butterfly the Blue Morpho. We got to see our house from afar and students were surprised and excited because our base house is all covered in forest, surrounded by beautiful trees and animals.

Students’ first impressions of our base house were that it has an amazing view of Ujarras city but also the mountains. It’s all green. We love that.

For lunch, we had a typical cCsta Rican dish called Mano de piedra (Hands of stone), but don’t worry no rocks were harmed because the dish is actually made with roast beef with tomato sauce and more natural ingredients. Besides that, we had baked potatoes and a salad prepared by our already favorite cook “Doña Ligia”.She also brought us a super delicious mint and pineapple juice which is supposed to keep our stomachs healthy.

After lunch, we had a long Welcome and Accommodations orientation and a Culture and Safety Talk. As was stated in our meeting “Safety is our main priority”, also with learning and having fun. We are here as a group and we will take care of each other. We introduced students to our favorite Global Glimpse words: commitment, courage, and compassion, along with kindness and empathy.

To finish this wonderful day, we had our nightly meeting. Socrates made us think about the things we love, hate, and look forward to, and Michelle showed us how she can do handstands (so cool, right?!).

Tomorrow you will have the chance to hear from them as they will be the Leaders of History Day.

Big Hug and Big Love from

Your PCs and today’s Leaders of the Day.
