¡Hola Global Glimpsers & Families!

Welcome to the blog page of Las Tablas, Panama. Throughout the blog, you will get a glimpse into the experiences of our participants. Let’s get to know each other before we spend every waking moment together for 2 weeks this summer 😉

My name is Claire De Leon and I am currently a Spanish teacher at Amundsen High School, previously I taught at Clemente and in Michigan. I teach with Josue (in the Lucha Libre picture I’m in the middle and he’s on the right). I’m excited to go on this trip together because I think our personalities balance each other very well.

In my free time, I love to cook vegan food, watch terrible TV, sing, do yoga, and go on adventures. I am a cat mom of 2 sweet kitties that I care for with my partner John. I have travelled to 6 Spanish-speaking countries and lived in Mexico, Ecuador, and Spain, but I have never been to the Panama. When I was in high school, I did a program called Amigos de las Americas where I spent 6 weeks in Michoacán, Mexico with a host family and it opened my eyes to human connection in new ways. Student travel opportunities are so important and I feel lucky that I get to be a part of making it happen for others.

I’m sure that we’ll embrace all of the experiential learning and we’ll be brave to step outside of our comfort zone and use what we are learning to communicate with those around us. I am so excited to travel and learn with you this summer!
