Hello families! This is Nyla and Isabella writing to tell you guys about the first CAP day and the Fourth of July. We woke up and ate breakfast at Café Caney. Shortly after, we packed our materials on the bus and headed over to Escuela Paris to start on our community action projects. These projects included painting the front entrance sign, the gazebo, the walls, the trees, and the park. We also started on redoing parts of the basketball court and setting up soccer goals for the students.

After a long but fun six hours, we went back to Hotel Hawaii to start preparing for our English tutoring sessions. Everyone changed into their formal attire and went off to tutor for an hour.

After tutoring, we all went to dinner to find a surprise waiting for us to celebrate the Fourth of July. Café Caney was kind enough to make us some food that reminded us of home with chicken fingers and fries. After dinner, we also celebrated with a Fourth of July cake and a dance party!

The surprises weren’t over yet though! We went back to the hotel to change before we headed off to meet up with a New York Global Glimpse delegation, at the Union Park, that had arrived in Chitre today. After a fun meet up and dance party, the New York delegation left and we passed the torch to tomorrow’s leaders of the day.

When we got back to the hotel, before turning off the lights we made sure to finish off our nightly meeting by giving out some Big Love. Overall the day was super fun for everyone and it helped everyone to feel a little closer to home by celebrating the Fourth of July here in Panama!
