Hello everyone!
Today, we started our CAP delivery. For our CAP (Community Action Project), we decided to paint the front wall and repair the playground at Casa Jacinto de Francisco, the Leon orphanage. We worked at the orphanage for 5 hours today. We split into two groups, one to paint the entrance wall, and the other to repair and paint the playground. Jocelyn and I were both in the painting group. We started by scraping the old paint off of the front wall. Then we washed the wall with soap and water. After, we painted the first layer of paint. We used blue and white paint, symbolic of the Nicaraguan flag.

This is what the front wall of the orphanage looked like before we started working on it.

We decided to paint this wall as well, and the other side of it. We wanted to improve the overall look of the orphanage.

We had to cover all of the tiles on the wall with tape and paper before we could start painting.
While we were painting, the other half of our delegation was working on the playground. When we first visited the orphanage, we noticed that the playground was very dangerous for the children and we wanted them to be safe. The group created two new swings, they started cutting wood for a new playhouse, and they sanded all of the wood. They also started putting together the walls of the new playhouse.

Here you can see part of the swing set and the new playhouse that the second group was starting to repair.
At the end of the day, we accomplished a lot of the hard work, but we still had a ton of work left to finish on the second CAP delivery day.
We love and miss everyone and we will see you soon!
