Today, our goal was to accomplish completing the CAP project. In the morning, students had the wake up call at 7:00 a.m. It was really early, but we were all committed to finish our tasks. At 8 a.m., students had breakfast to have the necessary energy to work hard throughout the day. Before going to IPHE, students grabbed lunches and drinks for lunch time.

When we arrived at IPHE, students already knew that the different types of projects had to be completed by 3:30 p.m. As LDD’s, we had to make sure that even though students were tired, they still had to keep on working as a group. We could tell that after a few days of hard work, everyone was drained of energy. As LDD’s, we went up to everyone and told them to stay hydrated. We also reminded them of the motives behind the project. By lunchtime, the painting group finished painting the classroom. We knew that the kids would be extremely grateful for the room’s makeover. After lunch, the stone group was almost finished, but the gate group still needed to complete a lot of work since they had barely started painting. With this challenge, glimpsers from the painting room joined the gate group to help hasten the process of painting the gate. As encouragement for the glimpsers, we went to each group and gave hugs to girls and pats in the back to boys with inspiring words. When the table and stone groups finished their project, they all joined the gate group since there were so many bars to paint. As a group, we finished painting before it hit 3:30 p.m.

After we finished the CAP project, everyone felt accomplished in meeting our goal. The school staff was very grateful for us making the school a better learning environment for the kids. As a remembrance, all the glimpsers, GGL’s, and PC’s took a picture in front of the school. We are very grateful to have the opportunity to make a difference in Chitre for the better.
