Hiiiiii everyone! Annie and Max here 🙂

Today we woke up at 7 am and had a fulfilling breakfast of bread, and took a nice picture with the supplier of our project materials, Eduardo. Afterward, we left for the Adolf Kolping School where we split into several groups and proceeded to start our Community Action Project that we have been planning for the past several days.

My (Maxwell’s) group had planned to repaint the soccer and basketball court lines at one of the schools, and also repaint the hopscotch game they had, and introduce the school to 4 square, as well as draw several small animals and flowers around the play structure in order to beautify it. After laying down a lot of masking tape, for the court and 4 square, we started painting, and despite it being extremely hot, we ended up finishing the court before lunch, and started painting the hopscotch and 4 all square. Throughout the entire time, we got to talk to as well as get help from the students, which was the most enjoyable part of the experience. All in all, it was a productive, tiring, and enjoyable day.

On the other hand, my (Annie’s) group was in charge of designing the corkboards for both the elementary students as well as the high school students! For the younger children, we incorporated popular media here such as Mario, Peppa Pig, and Pokémon. Knowing the three career pathways for the older students, we designed their board with elements that represented engineering, gastronomy, and carpentry. Tomorrow, we’re hoping to work on a third board that will be located in the common room with the plan to paint the Ecuador flag + have the students place fingerprints on the sides of the board. Though it was a hot day and we all felt tired afterward, there was a sense of accomplishment as this project is going to add more of a vibrant and fun environment to the school.

Good luck to tomorrow’s leaders, Alden and Chris! 😀
