Dan and Karen

Hi Students:

Dan and I are looking forward to our upcoming trip with you!  We will be contacting your parents in the next week to introduce ourselves, double check that your documents are in order, and answer any questions that they might have.

About us: We are good friends, and both teach at Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco. Dan teaches ceramics and AP 3D studio art and I teach architecture and AP art history. We like to walk dogs on the beach in our free time and we both live in the city.

Most important:

Double check that your name on your passport and your name on the GG website match EXACTLY.

Visit your doctor and make sure you are up to date on all required vaccinations.( The recommended list is on the website)

Check the packing list carefully-

You are not allowed to wear open toed shoes anywhere but in the hostel( this is safety issue and a cultural norm)

You must dress for success  when you are teaching English, and otherwise wear more formal clothing than you are accustomed to. Check the website for dos and don’ts.

No shorts or skirts above the knee, tank tops, or ripped clothing.

It’s COOL in Constanza- bring warm clothing and a day pack for travel. Bring a sun hat and sunglasses and a swimsuit.

If you have a camera or Ipod that does not have internet capability BRING IT.  You will not have access to your phones on the trip- they will be collected and stored for the duration for more meaningful group interaction.

PRODUCTS:  I highly recommend bringing a three week supply of Pepto-Bismol tablets and taking 1-2 tablets 4 times a day once you arrive in Constanza. This simple remedy has been shown to alleviate travelers diarrhea by 60 percent. Pepto Bismol has anti microbial properties and may form a protective layer on the intestinal wall. https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2017/05/22/528802722/tips-for-staying-healthy-when-traveling-abroad

Other items you may want to consider- a pillow for long flights, warm cozy clothing( airplanes can be cold) and earplugs for noisy sleep environments.  Bring a novel to read in your downtime- there will be no access to personal electronics.

AIRPORT

We will meet you in terminal 3 at the United Airlines ticket counter at 7:40 PM on July 2nd.  We will be wearing black Global Glimpse shirts.  Looking forward to meeting you all!
