Today we attended the festival of Inti Raymi. It is an annual festival created to appreciate the sun and Mother Earth for their necessary resources that allow humans to live a sustainable life. In order to show respect to the indigenous people for their celebration of Mother Nature, we participated in the ceremony, which involved dancing, shouting, and offerings. In that moment, we all felt so connected to the energetic atmosphere created by the indigenous people through their vibrant culture.
Being able to attend this festival was such a privilege because we were able to spiritually and physically experience what their community was all about. During the traditional meal, Pamba Mikhuy, we ate local vegetables and cuy (guinea pig). They exemplified a piece of what their community represented through their hospitable attitudes and unity, as food was offered to everyone.

I love reading these accounts of what everyone is learning and contributing every day. I just noticed the motto on the Global Glimpse blog is “Open the eyes of tomorrow’s leaders.” Very appropriate! Mina, have a great experience and I’m looking forward to getting together when you get back! —Grandpa
