Hey Global Glimpse Community! My name is Christiana Herrera, and today was my day to be Lider del Dia. The question of the day was, “When I get home, what will I do to make sure I am making the most of my time?” We all discussed that each of us would take away something positive from this trip. Some of us said we would tell our family and friends about how high the poverty levels in Nicaragua are, and some of us would talk about how different their lives are compared to ours. Some also said they would try to volunteer more, be more thankful, and be more considerate, while keeping in mind the privileges and advantages they have.
Today was our first free day in which we got to go out and explore on our own. I’m really proud of how we all followed the rules today, especially making it a point to be on time, be aware of our surroundings, and be positive when there presented with difficult situations. This made being Lider del Dia a really great experience because we were all on the same page and having fun.
One thing I learned while being Lider del Dia today is that I can take charge without being condescending. I think this is an important quality for leaders to embody. All in all, everyone had a great day and bonded with each other. We have gone through great lengths to support and help each other throughout the day, and we continue to do so throughout the trip. Every one is having a great time in Nicaragua, and we love and miss you all. 🙂
