Hello Global Glimpse parents and friends ! We started our day today bright and early with a 7am wake up call by yours truly. Breakfast was truly delicious featuring a crepe with cinnamon, cheese and a banana on the side . At 9am we finished breakfast and headed over to the market to work like a local. Once we arrived, the cite manager, Carla, showed each and everyone of us the station we will be working at. I specifically had the rice and beans station, along with my fellow Global Glimpsers who had the clothing , vegetables, cheese, fish, and pork station. Each and everyone one of us had th experience of what it felt like to prepare and advertise products like the locals in Granada. As 11:30am was reaching, we said our goodbyes to the station workers and headed over to La Favorita for lunch. Lunch was also amazing with a mix of french fries, chicken fritters , and a fresh salad. After lunch we walked back to the hostel where we all had time to prepare for our CAP(Community Action Project) presentations as well as for our english tutoring classes. The principle and a teacher that work at a school we will be helping to improve, arrived at 2:00pm. We then presented in groups 3 ideas which were; renovating the kitchen, painting the school, and building a playground. The principle and the teacher then discussed which ideas they heard were most needed for their school. They choose the painting the school and the kitchen ideas to best improve their school. But little did they know we had a surprise for them. With the help of our donations and along with the many donors Mr.Luna was able to reach out to. The principle and teacher were filled with joy when they heard this news that it almost brought tears to the teachers eyes. Once presentations were over we said our goodbyes and thank you’s and got ready for our English classes. At 4:15pm we walked to our English classes and taught English to our students. Once two hours of teaching passed we walked up the block to La Favorita to have dinner. As the other two meals, dinner was amazing as well. We ate tortillas with cheese and beans inside with a salad on the side. Everyone enjoyed their meal, plates were cleaned and everyone was satisfied. Lastly we headed back to the hostel for the night to have our nightly meeting. Everyone shared their experiences for the day and many of them were eye openers. A job may seem easy or unimportant at times but many can not see the hard work and dedication workers put into their profession. So one lesson my fellow Glimpsers and I learned today is , never take advantage of what you have because there are many out there who have to work harder to survive.
