It started out pouring. The Glimpsers woke up early at 6 AM to a downpour, but were still excited for our fun day at Somoto Canyon. The rain cleared up and we were on our way! After picking up our bomberos (firefighters!) and tour guides, we headed off on a short hike to the Coco River. The canyon was lush with green and incredibly beautiful, with every view looking like something straight off of a postcard! Equipped with our trusty life jackets, we struggled in the rocky river and began our adventure! From floating through the river to jumping into the water, our Glimpsers did it all. They were amazingly courageous and supportive of one another, cheering each other on every step of the way! Towards the end we had a short boat ride and made our way back to the bus, tired, hungry, and exhausted, but so so happy. We had lunch at a nearby restaurant, with a hefty plate of gallo pinto, plantain chips, and some beautiful delicious chicken. We napped on our way home with full stomachs.
Once we arrived back we had dinner at the hostel then headed off to our final day of english tutoring at Collegio Mas Vida. To add a little spice to our last day tutoring, we hosted a talent show, which was full of dancing, singing, pictures, and adorableness. To end off the night, we surprised our birthday girl, Naomi, with a cake for her seventeenth birthday and ‘accidentally’ got a little frosting on her face. Lots of Big Loves were given at our final nightly meeting in Hotel El Chico, and the Glimpsers are full of mixed feelings about our nearing departure. We’ll be back in Managua for the night tomorrow before our EARLY EARLY departure for the airport at 3 AM. Excited to see you all in two days!
