Day 2: History-City Tour

My name is Sixto Cabral, one of the program coordinator. I’m originally from San Juan where we are going to be spending the next two weeks. Today was my opportunity to be leader of the day. We had a great experience during the City Tour and having the opportunity to learn more about the Dominican Republic history in general, but more focused on the city San Juan de la Maguana that is located in the South of the country around 200 km away from Santo Domingo.

Every day we are going to have different LDD (all the students already has signed up with a specific theme to lead the rest of the delegation).

We learned a lot about everything related to Tainos (the first people who lived in the island), Cacicazgo (the different sites in the island was divided the country), Cacique (a leader who leads each Cacicazgo), we were talking about politics, education, religion and the three founding fathers so for that reason today was called History-City Tour. We hope to keep teaching them more about everything related to this beautiful country and improve their leadership skills and have fun.

We went to a giants game yesterday and today we went to the Gilroy garlic festival. It was probably as hot as you thought dr was gonna be. Anyways everyone says hi and we miss you.
