Dear Beloved Parents,

We started off the day going to the market to buy fruit and snacks while some people stayed in the hostal to sleep in. After, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Don Carlos which consisted of coffee and fresh bread, along with hard boiled eggs, bananas and refreshing watermelon juice.

After breakfast we had our first workshop that taught us about what it means to be a leader, and how we can incorporate it into our daily lives. We also opened up about the people we admire, and how they inspire us to be the best we can be.

We were overjoyed when we were informed that we will be exploring the biodiverse landmark, Isla de Corazón. We learned a lot about the ecosystem and about the 40 different species of birds that surround the island. It was a lot of fun to travel through the mangrove tunnel and look at the massive crabs and spiders that made us jump out of our seats!

Our work part of the day consisted of working in the garden at Fanny High School. We split up into 3 different groups, where we were able to use the driftwood we collected at the beach to make garden beds, paint recycled tires and plant pepper seeds and turmeric roots. To continue the fun, we played an intense game of basketball, girls against boys. It was so fun to get to know the other students from the Eco Club.

After a very long day, we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Doña Rosa’s restaurant, where we got to know the whole family and allowed them to get to know us. After this, we returned to the hostel, and had our discussion on the day and what we learned.

Buenas Noches,
