Hi there, devoted readers,

The chapter today started with the students arriving ALL together and with ALL their luggage at Santiago Airport, very excited about this program. We went to the hotel to get some sleep before our first breakfast in the country.

After breakfast, we headed out to our home in Jarabacoa for the next 12 days. After students got settled, we had our second meal of rice, beans, and “tostones” or fried plantains, something that Dominicans loveeee to eat for lunch, and students loveeed as well.

In the afternoon, we all played some name games, and PCs delivered the first seminars about welcome, accommodation, safety, and more. Students had free time and bonded with each other. To finish the day the group had the nightly meeting, and the new leader of the day showed her talent (some rap)to earn the leader of the day (LDD) torch.

To be continued…
