Hello everyone! First of all, thank you to all the people that have been following us on our blog, we hope you are enjoying getting to know what interesting things we do every day! 😊. As the leader of the day today, I got to wake up everyone at 6:00 a.m. We went to eat breakfast at Buffet Estelí which included Gallo pinto, scrambled eggs, and plantains. Then we talked about fair trade in Nicaragua and how that affects businesses. We also talked about coffee (the world’s second largest commodity) and then we went to a place called the Garnacha, which is where they make organic fertilizer using Californian worms. We got to help them peel the coffee bean skins using a big stick and a big wooden bowl which is altogether called a Pilon. It is used manually, so we all got to take turns to help. After that, we got to feed the goats that are kept at the Garnacha, which made a lot of people happy. Everyone especially loved the baby goats! Then we went to their shop and bought many souvenirs such as keychains, jewelry, tea, and coffee. Directly after that was lunch time, which the people at Garnacha kindly cooked for us. Most of us had delicious organic beans, rice, chicken, and salad. Right before leaving, we headed off to a magnificent viewpoint a few minutes away and we all enjoyed taking pictures there and mostly just enjoying the magnificent scenery. We then headed off to Café Centro Americano, a place where they process coffee to be traded and sold. We all got to taste the amazing coffee from Nicaragua and also buy some to bring back home! After coming back to the hostel, we went to our English tutoring classes. Most of us have made bonds with our students, which is a great way to connect with the people in Nicaragua. At the end of the day, we ate dinner and then came back to the hostel to review and talk about our day. I had lots of fun being the leader of the day today, and I hope the future leaders do too. We are having a great time here in Estelí, and we are all looking forward to the next days that our amazing Global Glimpse leaders have planned for us. Thank you all again, and keep on commenting! We love reading them! Yours truly, Rocio!

P.S. by GGL Renee: Tomorrow is our Fun Day at Volcán Masaya and Laguna de Apoyo. When we return, we will be preparing for our next Reality Challenge: Living on $1 per day. As such, our next ELDD (el lider del dia) GG leader Brian, will be writing our blog on a piece of paper, which will not be posted until the next day, when we can use electricity again.  We may be able to post a Father’s Day message before we unplug for the challenge.  If not, please know we all send our fathers and father figures heartfelt thanks and Big Love for all they have done, and continue to do for us.  We literally would not be here without you (just a little biology humor).
