Hello everyone! First of all, thank you to all the people that have been following us on our blog, we hope you are enjoying getting to know what interesting things we do every day! 😊. As the leader of the day today, I got to wake up everyone at 6:00 a.m. We went to eat breakfast at Buffet Estelí which included Gallo pinto, scrambled eggs, and plantains. Then we talked about fair trade in Nicaragua and how that affects businesses. We also talked about coffee (the world’s second largest commodity) and then we went to a place called the Garnacha, which is where they make organic fertilizer using Californian worms. We got to help them peel the coffee bean skins using a big stick and a big wooden bowl which is altogether called a Pilon. It is used manually, so we all got to take turns to help. After that, we got to feed the goats that are kept at the Garnacha, which made a lot of people happy. Everyone especially loved the baby goats! Then we went to their shop and bought many souvenirs such as keychains, jewelry, tea, and coffee. Directly after that was lunch time, which the people at Garnacha kindly cooked for us. Most of us had delicious organic beans, rice, chicken, and salad. Right before leaving, we headed off to a magnificent viewpoint a few minutes away and we all enjoyed taking pictures there and mostly just enjoying the magnificent scenery. We then headed off to Café Centro Americano, a place where they process coffee to be traded and sold. We all got to taste the amazing coffee from Nicaragua and also buy some to bring back home! After coming back to the hostel, we went to our English tutoring classes. Most of us have made bonds with our students, which is a great way to connect with the people in Nicaragua. At the end of the day, we ate dinner and then came back to the hostel to review and talk about our day. I had lots of fun being the leader of the day today, and I hope the future leaders do too. We are having a great time here in Estelí, and we are all looking forward to the next days that our amazing Global Glimpse leaders have planned for us. Thank you all again, and keep on commenting! We love reading them! Yours truly, Rocio!
P.S. by GGL Renee: Tomorrow is our Fun Day at Volcán Masaya and Laguna de Apoyo. When we return, we will be preparing for our next Reality Challenge: Living on $1 per day. As such, our next ELDD (el lider del dia) GG leader Brian, will be writing our blog on a piece of paper, which will not be posted until the next day, when we can use electricity again. We may be able to post a Father’s Day message before we unplug for the challenge. If not, please know we all send our fathers and father figures heartfelt thanks and Big Love for all they have done, and continue to do for us. We literally would not be here without you (just a little biology humor).
Hi Amanda,
We’re glad the Uno game is getting a lot of usage. What’s the temperature and humidity like over there? It’s been hot here. Have you been buying lot of souvenirs? Mom really wants you to call us on your next free day. Call me, if you forgot my number it’s in your email. Pumpkin misses you, and grandma thinks you’ve been out with your friends the last 8 days.
P.S. Mr. Pickles finally opened, we’re going soon.
P.P.S. You enjoying those beans? 🙂
P.P.P.S Those baby goats were cute!
Love, Gabby Goo Goo and Debbie Deb
Hi, Team Esteli,
What a way to spend Saturday time! It sounded like a vacation but was much more than a vacation. Thank you Rocio for painting a lively picture of the team activities.
So you all leaned a lot about coffee and coffee business? Did you get to see the worms and the fertilizer they made? Nice to know that you got a chance to buy some coffee. BTW, the baby goats looked so cute and I am not surprise that they made a lot of you happy!
It also feels heart warming to see that you have made bonds with your students. So proud of you.
Renee – OMG you are going to have the first great fun day tomorrow! Happy for you all. Put enough sun block on and be safe while having fun! Can’t wait to see your pictures.
Sean, nice to see your grass-cutting picture. Hope you’ve also bought some coffee, lol. Eat well, stay healthy, and challenge yourself as much as you can. Love you.
Good night!
Forgot to mention, I like the vista point photo! Such unique and beautiful view! Lucky you.
Mmmmmmm coffee.

Well I am cooking up a storm for dad today.
Business as usually.

I LOVE the team Esteli2 – 6/13/15 blog posts!! – especially when you add so many great photos with captions!! (Nice and big so we can see your beautiful faces and the goat’s faces, too.) How about that famous rain we were told to expect? has it been raining at all? We had a long drive down to San Diego for father’s day – the traffic in LA was horrendous. Gotta run. xoxo

E2A! It’s really incredible to see you guys finding some of the beauty of La Garnarcha. Hopefully you had a great day seeing Volcan Masaya and Laguna de Apoyo- our Earth truly has many splendors. Hope that some of you got to go swimming. Are the gallo pinto and plantains helping inspire your bodies and minds toward creativity toward your CAP project? I’m excited to see what you guys will come up with for it. Maybe a project that works WITH the Earth instead of just ON it? Just a word of praise- your blog entries are awesome, both words and pictures, great job on those by Los Liders del Dia! Crystal- I hope you’ve found some doughnuts. Bonnie- what are YOU gonna DO?! Krista- your husband told me the other day that since you guys haven’t moved in the past few weeks he’s looking into something new:-) Hope you’re all staying hydrated, keeping the diarrhea to a minimum, and staying classy.
Hi Carla,
I am glad to see you are having fun. This is a one time experience you are being introduced to and it will help you in the future. You are being presented the opportunity to share and gain lots of knowledge on this trip. Waking up early might be difficult for most of you, but wake up with joy because you guys have these opportunities. Keeping having fun and enjoy tasting new food,
Ps. Csrla we did party, but we will party more when you get back.

The Buenrostro Family
Hi Rocio!
I’ve been trying to keep up with the blogs! It sounds like you all are having a great time. I’m glad you had fun being the leader of the day. Can’t wait to hear about the whole trip when you get back!
