Day 7: Aid and Development

YOOOOOO, was the calling we used today as the Global Glimpse Leaders. Unlike previous days, we remained at homebase and had a relaxing day after our hike yesterday. Our first item on the agenda was the 2nd CAP seminar. After that meeting, the group split with some people going into town and others remaining calling home. We also got laundry done today for those who desperately needed clothing. In town, we saw a farmers market and we all got ice cream. Then, after lunch, we had a guest speaker, Rodrigo Mendez, give us a presentation. He is an environmentalist with a resume far too long to fit in this recap. He gave us a presentation about NATO’s 2030 goals for the environment and the world as a whole and we played a fun game of charades involving the things we learned. After that, we planted an endangered species of tree in the UWC green space. We took our photos with him as a group, and the rest of the group got to call their parents. Then we were all happy to have spaghetti instead of rice and beans for dinner. Lastly, during our nightly meeting, we had an enlightening discussion about the question: from what you learned from aid and development today, what do you think the US’s role is in providing aid to other countries? Should our government do more or less of it?

Below are some pictures from today!
