Today our main focus was “Environmental Issues”, specifically how climate change has affected the Los Santos district of Panama. We had a presenter from the non-profit organization Mundo Verde (MUNVER) who explained the problems in Panama caused by climate change. In particular the severe droughts, deforestation, and rising sea levels. After the presentation we left to Playa Uverito where we split into two groups and held a friendly competition to see who could collect the most trash.
At the beaches we also met a local women. Katz who further explained how the community takes care of the beaches and different events in the community in the entire region of Los Santos.
This entire day made us all more aware of how our choices can impact the environment and we have the power to make a change.
Mirabella and I were the first Leaders Del Dia (LDD), which was difficult in some aspect, but we were able to overcome these obstacles and lead the group effectively most of the time.
Such an important issue to learn at a global scale. Great pictures and Congrats, Mirabella and Alfreda for leading the first LDD!
Meant to say- Congrats, Mirabella and Alfredo* for leading the first LDD! and glad to see you were all wearing protective gloves while cleaning the beach.
Alexis! I forgot you even bought a Babylon shirt but that’s actually heckin cool to do that little competition! I’m so proud of you! A word from home (México), we took Dante back to his mom and kept Leila and she’s a bit sleepy but she’s finally eating! And now, our family found out I can cook Asian food, and well now that’s my next adventure! I love you so much and I hope you’re having a good time!
Nice shalimar! pick up that trash, yeah.
Hey cutieeee!!! I miss you so much my best friend! As much as I want you back, I wanna go experience the beautiful things you’re getting to experience. I hope you’re enjoying your trip so far, it really goes by fast, especially the last few days, so try to surpass how tired you feel and really take in every moment. I might also add that I love that you got to go to the beach and take part in maintaining it’s beauty, maybe we can go together when you come back 😀
Still walking to work everyday early in the morning, the sunrise is indeed a beautiful scene so if you get the chance to take a picture of the sunrise (and the sunsets) in Panama, I’d highly appreciate it <— don't worry I'll remind you 🙂
Love you and miss you Caro!!!! <3
