Hellooooooooooooo! We are Zwe, Abril, and Jacquline as today’s Lideres Del Día for Environment Day. Today, our group learned about the environment and helped plant tree saplings at Valle Nuevo National Park. It was a tiring but fun hike up and down the mountain. We met the manager of the park, Yendy Taveras, who taught us about the park’s history and reforestation. As a group we planted hundreds of trees alongside the Green Brigade. After lunch back at out hotel, we went to the community center, FUNCJIDO, to make container gardens out of dirty bottles. Then we watched a documentary called The 11th Hour, produced by Leonardo DiCaprio.
Being Lider Del Dia was a tiring role, especially since Environment Day was a pilot day, meaning we were the first and only delegation ever to experience this opportunity. The group was really supportive, being tired together after planting trees and gardening, so shout out to you guys!
All in all, it was a fun experience to step up and take on a leadership role. There’s only a few days left!!! See ya soon!!
