Hi!
My name is Ana Leigh, and I’m currently 17 years old and attend Carrboro High School, in Carrboro, NC. In my free time I like to play guitar, be creative (make art, do projects, take photographs, etc.), and hang out with friends. I also love to try new things (activities, food, and experiences), which makes me super excited to travel to the DR and all around the world, which I hope to one day do. At my high school, I play basketball and softball, which I really enjoy as well. Since I was born in Guatemala and raised in North Carolina, I’ve always been motivated to learn Spanish so I could speak with people who are similar to where I’m from, so for almost my entire life I’ve been learning Spanish in school. Saying that, my Spanish is far from perfect, but I hope that going on this trip will improve it, and teach me new skills that I didn’t know before. Again, I’m always eager to try new things and discover a new food, activity, or anything else, because I could end up loving it, but I wouldn’t know unless I tried it. Overall, I can’t wait to immerse myself in a completely new culture and learn so many new things!
