This blog is in addition to the photos of the CAP project uploaded yesterday:
Good bye to our friends at Rio Grande. It was an exciting day today (yesterday) as we finished our CAP project early and said goodbye to the beautiful community of Rio Grande. To start the day off, we woke up at 7:00am for an 8:00am breakfast, then we took the bus to Rio Grande to continue working on the park for our CAP project. It has been two days since we laid the foundation of cement flooring and today the painting and gardening crew would put us to work. Ken, the painter, helped the first group to start the mural of the world with the Dominican flag in the middle and 5 kids standing above the world, and the second group gathered soil and plants for the planters made from tires.
After three hours of work we had lunch with the community then continued to work until the project was completed. We were a day early! We all gathered the community together for Big Love and thanked Rio Grande for their hospitality and generosity in helping us to accomplish this goal. We all said our tearful goodbyes and headed back to the hostel to freshen up and get some siesta time. We then headed to Funcjido to finish writing our appreciation letters to the sponsors of Global Glimpse. We concluded our night with dinner and teh nightly meeting where we passed the torch to the next leaders for tomorrow.
Jordan and Ayanna.
Hard to believe your trip is concluding. The project looks amazing and cheerful! Your hearts are full as we read your blogs. Safe travels back to your homes and take a little bit of your experiences with you throughout your lives.
Yesterday’s pictures were a great visual testimony of the work that you have done in the D.R. and the impact that you are doing in that community.
I can’t wait until you and the group come back and hear the stories directly from you. Just one more day Ben! Family , friends and all your supporters have asked about you and your trip, and I have tried to keep them up with the info that I get from the blogs. Love you hijo!!
What an amazing trip. Well done everyone, you should be incredibly proud. I know I am ❤️ I’m so eager to see my girl and hear everything she has to share.
Great job working together on the project. It’s not easy, but it is an important skill to have as you will be doing this in some capacity in every area of your lives. Michelle
