Everyone slept in today! We started off by sleeping late or getting up early for yoga, led by Brenda (aka B-Money) and Kayla (aka J-Dog). Then we had some breakfast including pancakes, bananas, and strawberry juice, which everyone loved! Next up was “quiet time”, which maybe wasn’t 100% quiet, but it was restful nonetheless. We also got to gather up some clothes to do some much-needed laundry.

Lunch was rice and chicken, and then we were given the freedom and responsibility of some free time! We went out in groups of 7-8 to explore Constanza. One group had the most amazing burgers ever, followed by pizza (nothing wrong with 2 or 3 lunches, right?) We got to practice our Spanish while exploring the hills and streets of the city. The other two groups ended up at the cafe up the hill for some churros and other snacks, and most groups got a little shopping in as well.

The groups headed back exhausted to the hotel at 5 pm and completed the mid-trip evaluations. The rest of us were hanging out, talking, making bracelets, and drinking tea and ginger ale for some of our mild stomach issues. We had a late dinner of french fries and hot dogs and then went upstairs for our nightly meeting. Anais wowed everyone with her recitation of some… poetry.

Everyone was really glad to have a day out of the sun and time to relax with friends and reflect on this incredible experience at the halfway point.

As we write this, one of the local cats just ran past and spooked us! The first half of our trip is finished, and we are super excited to see what the second half has in store for us! Bye for now! XO
