Today was one of the greatest days yet. We started out rough with a 5:00 wake up call and ended running a little late, but our spirits were still very high. We traveled to the Somoto canyon, which was around a three-hour bus drive. Once we got there we had a 20-minute hike to the canyon and river. The Somoto canyon is around twelve million years old with beautiful greenery. The gentle yet rapid river that ran through the canyon is called Rio Coco, this river was formed in Honduras and found its way to Nicaragua. Today was a day of many fears, anxiety, and excitement. Some people were nervous to swim, while others were scared to jump in. Even so, everyone overcame their fears and had a great time. I’m extremely proud of everyone for stepping out of their comfort zones, being motivating, and positive. Our tour guides were also motivating and really fun to be with. They helped to keep a positive and energetic atmosphere. They were always there to give a helping hand to ensure our safety.
