Dear parents and friends,

Today was the best day yet! It was a beautiful and peaceful day for all the Glimpsers. Our question of the day was, “How can you spend time wisely during this day? How can we use our free time wisely back home?” Our quote of the day was, “Happiness is not something that you have to achieve. You can still feel happy during the process of achieving something.” Today, we all enjoyed sleeping in until 7:15 AM. We headed down for breakfast at 8:00. Today’s breakfast consisted of amazing toast, some fruit, and oatmeal, which many enjoyed. After breakfast, we had our daily health check-in to ensure that everyone was feeling amazing.

As soon as we finished our daily health check-in, we started heading to Playa El Uverito. We arrived around 9:00 AM thanks to our amazing bus driver, Emilio. We stayed at a small resort named Rincon Del Faro, which had an amazing beach view as well as a beautiful pool with a diner. As soon as we arrived, we were all thrilled with excitement to see such an amazing resort that we had all to ourselves.

A majority of the Glimpsers headed to the beach, while the other half enjoyed the nice and relaxing pool. After about 10 minutes, everyone headed to the beach to enjoy the amazing and refreshing waves. While everyone was enjoying the beach, we also enjoyed an amazing game of volleyball with the lifeguards, provided by our PCs and GGLs to ensure that everyone was safe. Around 12 PM, we all got an appetizing lunch of our choice, which we all enjoyed with an amazing view of the ocean and Gael playing the guitar, which was really peaceful. We constantly reminded everyone to stay hydrated, as it was a very hot and sunny day, but we also ensured to constantly remind everyone of the question of the day. Big love to Jesus for buying drinks for everyone that was in the pool.

At 3:00 PM, it was finally time to leave the resort, which many dreaded since we were all enjoying our time as a huge happy family. At 4:00 PM, we arrived back at the hotel and had free time until dinner, which everyone enjoyed differently by interacting with each other or taking a nap after a long beach/pool day. For dinner, we had some amazing pasta thanks to all the cooks who make our meals every day and make sure we enjoy everything we have. After dinner, we had our regular nightly meeting to recap the day and talk about all the amazing things we experienced.

Personally, my experience of being leader of the day was amazing and helped me realize that being a leader comes with difficult things and having to step out of your comfort zone. Being leader today made me realize it isn’t as easy as everyone expects, and it comes with flaws. But knowing what your flaws are helps you prepare yourself for the future since you’ve had experience being a leader before, so it helps ensure that I’ll be a lot more confident and efficient in no time.

My experience being the leader of the day was amazing. I learned how to take control and give everyone a happy and positive environment and enjoyable space throughout the day. I learned that being a leader means that you have to put everyone above yourself and ensure that everyone is doing and has everything they need before considering yourself. A skill I had to learn was getting out of my comfort zone and always making sure my voice was heard to ensure that everyone understood what was going to happen.
