Hello everyone!

My name is Joe Sheppard.  I teach at South San Francisco High School, and am one of our GG leaders.  I feel very lucky to be traveling with all of you this summer.

I’m looking forward to a rich experience in the Dominican Republic, learning more about the strengths and the challenges of the Dominican people, and learning more about all of the Glimpsers on the trip.  I think we’ll have a lot of fun and experience a lot of personal growth.

A little about me:  I was born in Oakland and raised in the East Bay.  I graduated from Berkeley High School.  I live in South San Francisco with two dogs and a rabbit.  I love cooking, listening to music, playing guitar, reading, and going to Oakland A’s games.

Last summer, I had my first chance to travel internationally.  I spent a month in Central America and it was a wonderful experience.  When I heard that GG was looking for a new leader at my school, I leapt at the chance.  It took me around 40 years to travel to another country, so hearing about this program that helps create opportunities for high school students to travel really excited me.
