Hola!
This morning we woke up to a warm day and set out to visit our new home Esteli. We toured around our hostel to major historical and cultural sights such as: the cathedral, city hall, and the local museum. Some of the glimpsers played volleyball with the locals, and we got a sweet treat of ice cream after the hot walk. After lunch, we walked to the history museum that held artifacts from the indigenous populations and more recent items from the revolution . A famous local archeologist led us through the musem and proudly described the history of our region, Esteli. When we returned to the hostel, we had a surprise birthday party for Sabrina and Danielle complete with cake, cards, and piñata! However, the real treat was having a famous singer, Lizandro Rugama, sing traditional Nicaraguan folk songs featuring songs of the revolution.
After dinner, we held our regular nightly meeting that included a recap of the day’s activities and planning for tomorrow. Expect some nice pix tomorrow!
Buenos noches!
What a great birthday surprise to have Lizandro Rugama sing for you! I can’t wait to see the next set of pictures!
